To celebrate National Poetry Month the Hound Dog Bookstore will showcase some random facts about their featured indie author Charlie Clouse. Random Fact:  At the age of five indie author & poet Charlie Clouse saw the movie "The Empire Strikes Back".  He's been a Star Wars fan ever since.  In 2012 he finally got a tattoo of Yoda.

Sand is everywhere. Sand is on the beach and in between our toes. Sand is inside our shoes and inside our swim suits. Sand is nestled in our beach towels and neatly tucked around the corners of the shower bathmat. Sand is everywhere and it's absolutely perfect, just as it should be.

A freezing cold November day. Bundled up in blankets and layers of clothes. Long Johns and sweaters are now the normal attire. A mad rush to the grocery store to stock up on milk, bread, and beer. Turn up the heat inside the house. Warm up the car for a few minutes before driving.  Hot and tasty comfort foods such as chili and soup bring a smile to everyone's face. (Don't forget about the hot chocolate). Oh yeah, and of course the all-time favorite classic drink that everyone loves....Hot Chocolate. How could you forget about that.   Let the hibernation begin.   

Science Fiction Rules!  In fact, "The Empire Strikes Back" was one of the first movies I remember seeing in the theater when I was a kid.  So I've been a loyal "Star Wars" fan since I was five years old.  I started collecting comic books in 2005 when I was about 29 years old.  It all started with a "Star Wars" comic.  I even wrote a poem about it in the book "Poems That Might Or Might Not Change Your Life".  My current comic book subscription pull list looks like this: (DC Comics) The Flash, Batman, Aquaman, The Justice League of America, Swamp Thing.  (Marvel Comics) The Superior Spider-man, Daredevil.  In 2011 thanks to Netflix.com I started watching the British television show "Doctor Who".  I even wrote a blog post about it.  You can check it out here .  As you can see I am the classic all around geek.  Uses "The Force" when opening automatic doors....check.  Likes Aquaman and not afraid to admit...

Darth Maul A few days ago I saw "The Phantom Menace" in 3-D.  It was awesome.  Although it is not my favorite "Star Wars" movie the 3-D version did make the movie much more enjoyable to watch.  They did change thank goodness the  puppet Yoda in the original version with a much better CGI Yoda so it now looks normal again.  However Jar-Jar Binks is still annoying as ever and the Pod race drags on and on and just seeing Anakin as a young boy saying things like "Yippee" and stuff like that is still a little different, but I realize that you have to start somewhere.   If you look past all the slight complaints  I will say that the 3-D effects blend in well with the movie.  Things seem to have more depth to it (well duh, isn't that the whole point) yes but some movies are in 3-D just to be in 3-D or to show off some kind of gimmick.  "The Phantom Menace" in 3-D just adds something more to the whole movie experience. ...
