Halloween (New Poem)

Image
The romance of death.  Ancient spells and darkness reigns  as  the moon rises above the clouds. Visions of witches and  beautiful  devils dance naked. The new ways are turning back  again to  the  old days when  magic  was more  than just sleight of hand.

Flannel Shirts (New Poem)

Image
Break out the warm cozy familiar flannel shirts and spooky Halloween decorations. Make room on the grocery store shelves  for every god damn thing pumpkin spiced. Welcome back good old fashion Halloween  cartoons and blood spilling movies.

It's October (Are You Ready?)

Jacket Weather (a Halloween poem)

Image
The leaves are starting to fall. Jacket weather is finally here. A smile appears on every kid and even adult who refuses  to grow up as Halloween costumes and decorations fill up  the store aisles and neighborhood shops. Classic horror movies splash on the TV screen at mid-night. Ghosts, Goblins, Devils, and Witches. Vampires, Werewolves, Mummies, and other  haunting things that give us fright. Entertain our fear of the unknown as  we scream in delight.

A Creepy Halloween Poem (well not really that creepy) 10/31/14

Wicked Witches and Wise Wizards. Grotesque Goblins and Ghastly Ghosts. Dancing Devils and Deceitful Demons. Voodoo Vampires and Satan Smiling. Blood-Red Wine and Ice. Alice Cooper and Vincent Price.

Halloween....the weeks before (New Poem) 10/8/13

Image
Pumpkin spiced beer, pumpkin rolls,  and more pumpkin treats.   An all night T.V. show  Halloween themed  marathon  featuring "Roseanne",  "The Simpsons", "Charlie Brown",  "Garfield", "Scooby Doo",  and all the rest.   Kids dressing up in their favorite  Halloween costumes weeks before Oct. 31st.  Candy filled dreams  and mid-night screams.   Halloween  is here once again  so it seems.   Yeah, I know it got kind of corny at the end but....Hey, deal with it.

Better Than Christmas (New Poem) 10/15/12

Four orange uncarved pumpkins and a happy scarecrow decorate the small front porch outside.  The leaves are just about to change color.  Halloween candy has yet to be bought (it's a little bit too early for that).  But soon, so very, very, very soon it will time for that creepy spooky night called Halloween once again.  In a way Halloween is a lot better than Christmas.  For instance once you get to a certain age Christmas kind of loses some of it's magic.  Not all of it of course but a little bit of it.  Halloween on the other hand the magic only increases.  For example as a kid you walk around the neighborhood dressed up in a costume and ask for candy in a joyful chorus of "Trick or Treat".  Then as you get older say middle school or high school age you may not go out trick or treating anymore but you may indulge in some light-hearted mischief....and let's not forget about "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".  After that you...

Happy Halloween!

Trick or Treat. Tonight we're going out to celebrate Halloween. Right now I'm drinking coffee "Seattle's Best" which so far is the best coffee I've ever tasted.   At the moment Jenny, Mandy (Jenny's friend), and Lucy are watching "Ghostbusters".   We're all going to get dressed up tonight and go trick-or-treating.   David is going to be Death or a grim reaper version of death. David looks creepy and awesome in his make-up and costume and looking all bad ass and evil.   Lucy is going to be Wonder Woman. She looks so cute in her little costume.   Jenny is also going to go as Death but not as in the grim reaper but as the cool goth chic Death in the Sandman comics by Neil Gaiman.   I'm not sure what Mandy is going to be yet.   Charlie (me) is going to be a Jedi knight from Star Wars, complete with a lightsaber (the Force not included).   I'll post some pictures later on tonight.   Happy Halloween everybody.

Some Fun Facts And Stuff About Halloween!

Halloween Night (New Poem) 10/16/10

Spooky masks and sweet candy corn treats.   Hell is unleashed on Earth for one night and for  one night only we dress up and become someone else.   We become vampires and zombies.   Wookies and Jedi knights.   Super heroes and creepy psychotic killers.   A hockey mask.   A sharp razored glove.   A white mask with black lifeless eyes.   Known mostly by their first names that  will send chills down your spine. Jason.   Freddy.   Michael.   Halloween night is the only night that we want  to be scared to death, but only if it doesn't really kill us.
